About the Item

This striking Murano Sommerso art glass geode bowl is attributed to Flavio Poli and dates to the 1950s. Expertly crafted in the iconic Sommerso (submerged glass) technique, the piece features a vibrant layering of deep ocean blue over a lighter inner core, accented by subtle green tones that emerge beautifully under UV light. The uranium content causes the glass to fluoresce in an intense neon green glow, adding a rare and highly collectible element. Shaped with a soft, four-lobed organic form, the bowl displays smooth transitions, fluid contours and a thick, polished base typical of mid-century Seguso production under Poli’s artistic direction. The heavy, sculptural quality makes it ideal both as a functional catch-all dish and as a standalone decorative object. A fine example of Murano mastery, this piece adds a bold pop of color and a touch of mid-century Italian elegance to any interior.
