Small, round-shaped tidy tray in Portoro Black Marble, Italy 1970s. Portoro marble is a prized variety of Italian marble from the picturesque Gulf of Poets, in the Ligurian province of La Spezia, and is one of the most beautiful of polychrome marbles. This fine Italian stone boasts a deep, brilliant black color with golden veins ranging from pure yellow to honey-colored. The particularity of its appearance makes it a unique marble, irreplaceable as an ornamental material. There is no similar stone in the world that is as distinctive and as luxurious and sophisticated: Portoro is a true work of art of nature, before which it is impossible not to be enchanted.
