About the Item

Archimede Seguso, mid-century Murano nature inspired Pink Opaline Glass decorative bowl with ribbed outline and feathered rim. It is part of a series of opalescent glass objects created by Archimede Seguso for the 1954 Biennale which was called “Opaline Sfumato”. “Oro” refers to the delicate 24K gold powder inclusions and the ribbed structure is described in Italian language as “a Coste”. An object such as this is displayed at the Archimede Seguso Museum in Venice. The fluid outline of the bowl is accented by a scissor cut rim which reminds of lotus flower petals which there are twelve. The bowl is in excellent original, unaltered condition without signs of obvious age wear. On the inside there is a group of tiny ash inclusions which speak of manufacture before the furnace transitioned to gas powered kilns. These inclusions do not affect the collectible value but support the historic importance. Authentic mid-century objects, especially those from renowned Murano Glass companies appear seldom on the market. Production was limited in number and due to the fragile nature, only few are still found in original and well preserved condition.
