About the Item

An exceptionally rare pair of Gucci gilt bronze vide-poche / valet trays / ashtrays from the early 1950s, first series production, designed under the creative direction of Aldo Gucci. Beautifully crafted with Gucci’s signature artisanal excellence, these pieces exhibit an elegant curvilinear form reminiscent of nautical hardware, with a deep concave bowl ideal for holding small items, keys, jewelry, or cigars. Originally finished in gold plating, decades of gentle use have softened the gilt, revealing a warm, silver-toned patina that enriches their vintage charm. The undersides are lined in leather, each embossed with the Gucci crest, while the front of each tray bears the discreet GUCCI mark. One leather base is slightly detached at one edge (as shown in photos) — intentionally left unrestored to preserve authenticity, with re-adhesion available upon request. What makes this pair especially rare is their survival together — perfect as a stylish duo for a couple of lovers, whatever the pairing — embodying timeless elegance and inclusivity. Whether displayed on a desk, vanity, or side table, they serve equally as functional accessories and sculptural décor. A remarkable find for Gucci collectors, design aficionados, and lovers of fine Italian craftsmanship.
