About the Item

Metal Grotto style shell dish in a silver hue. Standing on three rounded footed feet, this dish elevates slightly off of where it sits. In a silver metal, this piece is shaped into a scalloped seashell. Ridges are gracefully cut into it’s body, and leave quite a bit of room for holding whatever contents it’s owner likes. The exact metal is unknown, however it is believed to be either silver, or silver plated due to the marking at bottom. The Hallmark At the bottom is stamped with “Japan” just below a diamond shape with the letter “M” inside. Shell dishes such as these throughout history have been used at baptismal fonts for pouring holy water during baptism. We’d love to see this dish used as a trinket tray on either a vanity or a coffee table. It would make for a great conversation piece! Measurements: 5" wide 6" deep 1" tall Weight: .4 lbs.
