About the Item

A matching pair of decorative ruby-red glass dishes, crafted in 1960s Britain by the esteemed English glassmakers Whitefriars. Both dishes are the model 9099, which was released by Whitefriars at the height of the mid-century design boom. The style, designed by Geoffrey Baxter, features a clean, circular form with a thick, rounded lip. The bold red glass further enhanced with the hallmark “controlled bubbles” effect—a skilled technique that Whitefriars mastered, showcasing their technical and artisanal expertise in glassmaking. Each dish measures 12.7 cm in diameter and stands 4 cm high. They are in good vintage condition, with one dish showing some interior wear, including light scratching and slight clouding on the glass surface.
