About the Item

Antique 19th Century Imperial Russian solid trompe l'oeil cigar box. The outside of the box features a decorative engraving with the words "Paper", "Cigarettes" and "25 pieces" in Cyrillic language. Upon opening the cigarette box, a gilt interior is presented with a presentation engraving, the writing is in old-style Russian style. It says: 'Отъ обая́тельницы' In modern spelling: От обая́тельницы. Meaning in English: From the charming lady or From the enchantress. It’s a sort of playful, elegant dedication. Hallmarked Russian solid silver (875 standard), Moscow, year 1887, Assayer Viktor Savinkov (B.C), Maker's mark MH (Matvey Nikiforov). CONDITION In Great Condition. Some wear with age in keeping with use. Slight dings to the outside. Please refer to photographs.
