About the Item
Exceptional table cigar or cigarette box in 925/1000 sterling silver, gold plated, and decorated with translucent two-tone striped fired enamels over guilloché engraving. Finely hand-engraved on all surfaces, this piece reflects the refined French Empire (Napoleon III) style, inspired by 19th-century decorative arts.
The box features a semi-invisible “lost” hinge and spring-button opening, demonstrating both technical precision and refined design.
Designed by Giorgio Salimbeni in 1976, it was entirely handcrafted in Florence at the Salimbeni atelier, using heavy-gauge sterling silver with reinforced structure—necessary to withstand multiple high-temperature enamel firings (approximately 750–800°C).

A superb example of Italian craftsmanship and artistry, merging traditional silversmith techniques with elegant, timeless design.
