About the Item

Mid 18th century mahogany strong box with applied brass edges centering a central applique on the lid, a large lock plate (key present) and large carry handles. The two ends fitted with internal bolts to secure the chest to the floor or ship deck. The inside is fitted with a compartmented tray which requires a second "key" to release the spring locks at either end, once released the tray lifts out revealing another compartment with 2 short drawers above a long drawer at either end.
