About the Item
It was a great pleasure to find this rare Arts
Crafts pewter and copper box.
The copper applications are decorated with green and blue glass cabochons. The wooden carcass is covered entirely with pewter, embossed with quatrefoils. The edges of the casket are enhanced with ornamental and plain rivets, arranged to form a rhythmic pattern. The embossed copper banding is accentuated with round and square mottled blue and green glass cabochons. The box has retained its original little key. The box was probably intended to keep precious letters.
