19th Century French Louis XV Carved Walnut Panetière Cabinet from Provence

This charming two-piece cabinet was crafted in Normandy, France circa 1870 in the Louis XV style, blending elegant curves with regional rusticity. Made from richly grained oak, the lower section functions as a confiturier, or jam cupboard, featuring a single paneled door with interior shelving. The front and sides are intricately carved with floral sprays, shell motifs, and stylized foliage that continue along the shaped apron and scrolled feet. The upper vitrine is crowned with a curving bonnet cornice above its original wavy glass-front door, flanked by gracefully contoured open shelves, ideal for displaying pottery, books, or decorative accents. Inside, two shaped interior shelves provide functional storage behind the antique glass panel. A carved drawer, decorative escutcheons, and working locks with period-style iron hardware add both charm and utility. Two keys are included. This elegant, antique fruit wood sideboard was carved in Southern France, circa 1880. The Classic sideboard exemplifies the Louis XV style with a heavy presence, dramatic lines and intricate floral and foliage carvings throughout. The cabinet stands on small cabriole legs ending with escargot feet, over a scalloped apron heavily decorated with a center urn filled with floral and leaf motifs. The cabinet features a pair of drawers across the front dressed with heavy forged iron handles and matching escutcheons (and two fake drawers at the end!), over hand carved laurel and oak branch decor. The cabinet has two arched doors with recessed panels and dressed with oversized iron hinges and large decorative openwork escutcheons (and two fake doors at either end!); the middle doors open to interior shelving for ultimate storage.
