About the Item

A charming 19th Century European dome-top box, crated from beech and decorated in vibrant original polychrome paint. . Having a rectangular, domed lid with wire bail handle and wire hinges above a conforming case. Its construction highlights traditional woodworking techniques of the period, while the surface displays a lively palette of hand-applied colors with stylized flowers and birds. The front is fitted with an iron hasp and lock plate. 6.75"h. 10.25"w. 6.75"d. (height does not include handle). Provenance: From the Lifetime Collection of the late Deb Fisher (Lebanon, Ohio).
