The massive scale of this papier mache bowl is unusual and spectacular. The color, stitching, and scale make this an object d’ art. Likely paper-bodied lacquerware, essentially papier mache' with rice paste, shaped over a mold and coated with layers of lacquer. The origin of this piece is Yunnan, China.
