About the Item
This stunning orientalist lidded box is from the French Art Deco period. The Africanist influence design boasts Macassar wood hand-carved faces on the lid. The rectangular shape is complemented with off-white Galalith rounded feet and an impressive carved wooden handle-finial. There is no visible maker's signature.
The box is in good condition, with one corner slightly open, but it does not pose a structural problem. The Galalith plaque on the front side shows a crack.
Measurements: 10.25 in wide (26 cm) by 5.13 in deep (13 cm) by 5.94 in high (15 cm).
