About the Item
This is a very attractive wood box with a ceramic lid. We are unsure of the maker or designer, but from all its characteristics, we believe it to be of Italian origin and definitely from the mid-20th century. The lid has a matte charcoal glaze decorated in a beautiful green fused glass technique--very much like the work of Aldo Londi for Bitossi. There is cork on the bottom of the lid (this is what holds it in place) as well as the bottom of the box--so no signature is evident. Measuring 8.25" wide, 4.75" deep and 1.75" high, this piece is in very good condition--there are no chips, cracks or repairs. This is truly stunning box that's functional and highly decorative.
