About the Item
This silver trinket or jewelry box dates to the late 19th century and is presumed have been made in India. The silver tests to between .850 and 900 and as such, is slightly below .925 sterling. The top of the box is very intricately hand chased with a combination of floral and figural repousse decoration of birds and flowers, bordered by a squared chain link motif. The sides of the box are also adorned with hand chased panels of scroll work.
