About the Item
Antique gilt brass and cut glass souvenir depicting the ‘Basilique de la Delivrande’.
This is a charmingly detailed jewellery casket. The top depicts the Basilica of Our Lady of Deliverance near Caen in Northern France.
The top panel of bevelled glass displays the image and the four sides of bevelled glass panels are clear.
There is a pronounced cushion inside for displaying jewellery.
Dating from the late 19th century, it would have been sold as a French souvenir.
It could be used to contain jewellery or it stands beautifully in its own right.
Overall the casket is in good vintage condition, the inside and the gilding is bright and there doesn’t seem to be any damage to the glass. The interior is slightly worn but these are forgiven when looking at the piece as a whole. Please see photos.
