About the Item

A fine quality antique Regency period Chinese Export Lacquer Work Sewing Box, Circa 1820. The box having a hinged lid that is sumptuously decorated with a gilded design of Imperial children playing in a bucolic landscape, with corresponding designs around the sides also. The box having a fitted interior with the original ivory/bone sewing accoutrements, inluding clamps, lidded containers, lace making tools, a single drawer below encloses an adjustable writing slope with a pen box to the rear. The box is of sarcophagus shape and is raised on gilded bronze lion's paw feet. The gilding is in remarkable condition, the lacquer work also is in good condition, some small wear.
