Art Deco Stingray Skin Jewelry Box
This Art Deco jewelry box features a distinctive geometric shape, with a sloping or ramped design that gives it an elegant and dynamic silhouette. The exterior is fully covered in stingray skin, a gunmetal or graphite color with natural mottling in lighter tones, where the central spine on the lid stands out with its pattern of larger, lighter ossicles. The texture is unmistakably granular. When opened, it reveals a wooden interior with a warm, mahogany grain. The interior is compartmentalized with sections tailored to the angle of the design, including a larger area and smaller compartments. The clasp and hinge detail appear to be brass or a dark metal with a decorative spherical stopper on the top edge of the lid.
