About the Item

This exquisite antique Art Nouveau jewelry box was crafted by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik) around 1900. It features WMF’s signature silverplated pewter (so-called Britannia Metall) forming elegant organic whiplash lines characteristic of the period. These flowing, nature-inspired motifs wrap around all sides of the box, creating a harmonious sculptural frame. The warm reddish mahogany veneer panels form a beautiful contrast to the cool-toned silverplated metal, giving the piece a refined and timeless aesthetic. The lid opens to reveal the original wooden interior, clean and well-preserved, offering storage for jewelry or small personal items. With its craftsmanship, materials, and iconic Jugendstil design language, this WMF box is a highly collectible decorative object and an excellent example of early 20th-century German metalwork.
