About the Item
Swedish Baroque Box in Elm and Fruitwood, Early 18th Century
A rare and charming Swedish baroque box dating from the first half of the 18th century, crafted in elm and fruitwood with beautiful veneer work and fine marquetry. The box retains its original lock and brass key plate with fine floral engraving, together with an old key.
It has developed a rich and warm patina over nearly 300 years, testifying to both age and use. While the interior shows expected wear and traces of time, the exterior displays the timeless elegance of early baroque craftsmanship, with clean lines softened by delicate details.
A highly decorative and historically appealing piece, ideal for collectors of early Scandinavian furniture and decorative arts.
Wear consistent with age and use.
