About the Item

Four decorative silver boxes, including three sterling silver boxes and one continental silver box, 20th century, some possibly earlier. These beautifully decorated boxes are perfect for an elegantly dressed end table or night stand. Of the three boxes made of sterling silver, the largest decorated in repoussé with Rembrandt's The Night Watch, with Hanau marks to the base. The second sterling box of a taller trefoil form, decorated in repoussé to each side with charming figurative pastoral scenes, and the smallest a circular form box decorated in repoussé with all over tendrils, marked Sterling to the base, probably by Battin and Co. The second largest box of the group, the larger circular form box, made of continental silver of 800 standard, and decorated in repoussé with an idyllic scene featuring a lute player in a lush landscape, the base with Hanau marks. Measurements in the listing are for the largest sterling box decorated with the Night Watch. The tallest sterling box measures 1 3/8 in. H. and 1 1/4 in W, the smallest sterling box measures 1 1/2 DIA, 5/8 in. H. The continental silver box measures 2 in. DIA, 5/8 in. H.
