Dutch small 19th Century wooden lidded wool basket A nut wood with inlay of fruitwood wool basket, raised at 4 ball feet. When you were knitting at home, you put the tangle in a suitable container. The open containers were not very useful in practice: if you pulled a bit hard on your yarn, the tangle popped out of the container. Usually these were the beautiful luxurious baskets that were more decorative than useful. A lot more practical are the baskets with a lid with an opening in it The measurements are 24 cm high, 14 cm wide and 9 cm diagonal The weight is 284 grams.
