An early 19th century Chinese lacquer box, originally crafted as the interior compartment of a much larger box. Beautifully decorated and in remarkably good condition for its age, it features an elegant court scene on the lid depicting an emperor being offered a flower. The form is shaped like a traditional scroll, adding to its charm and rarity, a wonderful example of fine Chinese lacquer work.
