About the Item
German pendant mirror box in Guilloché enamel.
This is a beautiful guilloche open-box pendant created in Pforzheim Germany during the belle Epoque-Edwardian period, back in the beginning of the 20th century, circa 1900. Masterfully crafted in solid .925/.999 sterling silver and fitted on top with a movable ring to wear in a chain. The piece is completely embellished with engine turned Guilloché designs, which is topped with translucent blue enamel. The box is fitted with a four-barrels hinge, a push snap button, a mirror and a compartment. The enamel is in perfect condition.
Pforzheim City
The city of Pforzheim has been the center of the German enamellers, jewelry makers, watch, and clock industry since the 18th century. Pforzheim is a city of over 125,000 inhabitants in the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, in the southwest of Germany. It is known for its jewelry and watch-making industry, and as such has gained the nickname "Gold Stadt" ("Golden City").

The Edwardian Period
This era like the Georgian and Victorian eras before it, derives its name from the reign of the English King, Edward VII (1901-1910). Edwardian jewelry is known for representing femininity while incorporating a lot of the color white. Think diamonds, pearls and white metals like platinum and white gold. Diamonds often had an Old Mine or European cut and sapphires were a popular choice for a pop of color. They tended to be made from platinum and diamonds – the more, the merrier – and used fashionable, intricate techniques such as filigree and millegrain. Edwardian rings are works of art and best worn alone or alongside a simple wedding band. Mill graining, a new decorative technique made possible by the use of platinum, is featured often on Edwardian jewelry. Its border of delicate balls and ridges surrounding a gemstone or on the knife sharp edges of a design served to give jewelry a softer, lighter look.
Guilloché
Is a term used in fine jewelry or objects de Vertu to enhance the appearance of boxes, frames, brooches, rings or pendants. Guilloché enamel refers to metal pieces that have been given the Guilloché treatment and then covered with a translucent layer of enamel, giving the geometric patterns underneath the enamel a colorful hue.

This is a beautiful and colorful perfume/scent purse bottle created in the city of Pforzheim Germany, back in the 1900's. The stunning perfume bottle has been masterfully crafted in a cushioned shape with neoclassic Edwardian patterns in solid .925/.999 sterling silver. It is embellished on both sides, with a fabulous engine turned guilloche, which is topped with delicate hot glass enamel and accented with flowers motifs and garlands. The bottle is fitted on top with a screw lid and a pistil to apply the scents.
