About the Item

Russian hand-painted boxes are famous all over the world and have been the greatest symbol of Russian folk art for centuries. These boxes can be from four Russian schools of painting named after the Russian region where they are made: Palej, Fedoskino, Mstiora and Joluy. Top quality techniques and materials are used in the making of the boxes. The representations painted on the boxes are miniatures of landscapes, scenes from stories, icons, etc… Each box is a unique piece and its elaboration is very complicated and takes several days to be made entirely by hand. The perfect definition of the image is done with a brush made from a single squirrel hair.
