About the Item
French 19th c paper covered box with what appears to be a 3D diorama of the Strasbourg cathedral under a glass covered top. These paper boxes were designed to be sold as souvenirs and because of the fragility of the paper construction not many have survived. The cutout is done in multiple layers to achieve the 3D effect. The box top has a paper hinge and the box is raised on tiny turned feet.
