About the Item

A beautiful quality lush emerald green Murano art glass jewelry box or trinket box made by Cenedese in Venice, Italy, c. 1950. The glass has a deep, rich hue which contrasts dramatically with the original gilt mounts. The casket retains the original "Murano Cenedese Vetri" blue silver foil label to the rear side. The hinge is in great condition and works well, and the box is solid. It makes a perfect occasional tabletop box for jewellery or trinkets, or purely as a decorative accent thanks to its rich green colouring. It is in very good condition with no chips. About the Maker: In 1946, Gino Cenedese formed the company Cenedese Co. In 1947 he was joined by Alfredo Barbini as a partner, who was also artistic director and master glassblower. After Barbini left in 1950 to start his own company, Cenedese began using freelance designers, which included Fulvio Bianconi, Riccardo Licata, and Napoleone Martinuzzi. Antonio Da Ros became artistic director in 1959. (Source: 20th Century Factory Glass by Lesley Jackson).
