Reference: Giorgio Facchini (1947-): Where Sculpture Meets Jewelry
Born in 1947 in the coastal town of Fano, Italy, Giorgio Facchini discovered the art of goldsmithing early in life, and by his twenties, he had already earned international acclaim. Trained under sculptor Edgardo Mannucci and inspired by the avant-garde legacy of Arnaldo and Giò Pomodoro, Facchini carved out a unique space where jewelry and sculpture seamlessly intertwine.
His creations are bold, abstract, and unmistakably modern—each one a singular work of art crafted in gold and precious stones. No two pieces are alike, and each reflects his fascination with light, time, and the interplay of sculptural and architectural space.
Facchini's futuristic designs often feature geometric forms and kinetic elements, pushing the boundaries of wearable art. In 1969, he designed jewelry for Pierre Cardin's Autumn/Winter collection in Paris. In the following years, he was commissioned to create standout pieces for AUREA, the international jewelry trade show in Florence, aiming to spark innovation in mainstream design.
Throughout his career, Facchini has maintained a close connection with the Spoleto Festival, even designing its commemorative medal in 1974. Today, he continues to work from his studio in Pesaro, Italy, where his passion for form and movement remains undiminished.
His recent exhibitions include a 2018 showcase in Spoleto alongside other master artist-jewelers, and the 2019 Scultura Aurea: Art Jewelry for a New Renaissance at Palazzo Ducale in Urbino—further cementing his place as a visionary in the world of art jewelry.
