About the Item
A box as precious as the jewels it could contain inside, hand carved in Italy with the highest quality onyx marble from Pakistan (as attested by the adhesive label still present).
Although this box can be dated between the 50s and 60s, the design winks at the style of the 18th century with its rounded shape and the small gilded lion's feet which give a touch of opulence.
The two halves of this twentieth century box are joined together by a gilded metal hinge that recalls lion's feet, but the real peculiarity is in the meticulous craftsmanship of the sculpted cap, engraved to create a central umbo.
The box is in good vintage condition, intact, with minimal signs of oxidation only on the metal parts.
