About the Item
We are pleased to offer this elegant and rare large-scale Art Deco box, a striking decorative object that will not go unnoticed in any interior. Handcrafted in Italy circa the 1930s, it features a refined minimalist design in which rich materials — fine wood veneers and metal accents — coexist in perfect compositional balance.
The substantial wooden structure is veneered in dark walnut burl, its depth and warmth beautifully contrasted by brass elements. These include the exquisite fluted brass handle and the two cylindrical feet, accented with ebony wood inserts, which elevate the box and lend it a sculptural, almost monumental presence.
The box retains its original small lock and key; however, the locking mechanism is no longer functional. A professional conservational restoration has been carried out: the wooden surfaces were polished using specialized products, and the brass elements were carefully cleaned to restore their original luster while preserving the authentic patina.
An impressive and sophisticated Art Deco piece, ideal as a statement coffee-table object or as a refined decorative box, embodying the understated elegance and craftsmanship of Italian design from the interwar period.
