About the Item

Mid 19th century Swedish folk art painted box circa 1865. Good quality Swedish pine metal bound box.  Decorated with original ragwork paint and blue painted strap work.  Hand painted floral wreath to the lid, initialed and dated to the front, although the last digit on date has been scrubbed out. Lid opens to reveal storage space and candle box compartment. Expected surface marks and fading, original metalwork.  Lock present, no key.
