Mid-20th century Yamanaka lacquerware sweets box for tea ceremony, Japanese. Formed as a deep red apple with gold colored enamel decoration. Post WWII. Provenance: Sherman E. Lee, Director, Cleveland Museum of Art Asian specialist of world renown. Unmarked. Wear on bottom commensurate with age use. 4.75" dia., 3 7/8" h.
