About the Item

Decorate a vanity or console with this whimsical ceramic box. Crafted in France circa 1950, the piece depicts a young boy reclining in a relaxed pose atop a woven-basket–style base, wearing a wide-brimmed hat, blue trousers, and a red sash. The rectangular casket is fully sculpted in high relief with realistic wicker texture and a small lock motif on the front. The removable lid lifts to reveal a glazed interior suitable for trinkets or candies. Hand-painted in warm tones of beige, brown, red, and blue, this collectible Majolica box is in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, with beautiful luster and playful charm. Marked on the underside for further authentication. Measures: 7" W × 4.75" D × 8.5" H.
