PRIMAVERA Manufacture CAB (Céramique d’Art de Bordeaux) Ceramic box with a creased and glazed lid, partially crackled, cream and black on an ochre background, decorated with a dog in the round whose tail forms a fret. Circa 1928 H. 24 cm Biographical Information Founded in 1912 by Printemps, Primavera was one of the first art workshops integrated into a French department store. The studio promoted modernity in the decorative arts, collaborating with numerous ceramists and manufacturers, including Céramique d’Art de Bordeaux. Their production from the 1920s and 1930s exemplifies the Art Deco decorative revival. A superb example of Art Deco craftsmanship, produced by one of the world's finest workshops in the 1930s. The Primavera workshop was established by the renowned department store Le Printemps in Paris and employed a number of celebrated artists.

The adventure began in 1912 with two Decorative Arts enthusiasts: Pierre Laguionie (1884-1978), director of “Printemps” Department Store and lawyer René Guilleré (1878-1931), founder of the Salon des Artistes Dé-corateurs. Their objective is to promote the craft of Art in the daily life of the French people on the motto of the beautiful and the useful. Decorative objects and furniture (furniture, ceramics, glassware, carpets, up-holstery, wallpapers, etc.) must be beautiful, modern, of high quality and at affordable prices.
