About the Item
This extraordinary museum piece dates from the Vienna Secession period: a lidded box featuring a putto playing a mandolin. The design is by Carl Klimt, and the execution is by Bernhard Bloch, made circa 1910, in what is now the Czech Republic.
The glazed earthenware decipts a putto, playing a mandolin, he is kneeling on a flower dome. This masterfully crafted lid is covered with various blossoming flowers in polychrome settings. These flowers are made in relief – a true work of art!
The bottom part of the lidded box is made of wickerwork in the shape of a woven basket.
Measurements approx.: height 11,81 in - 30 cm, width 6,69 in - 17 cm.
This Secessionist object is a museum piece and an enrichment for any collection.
