About the Item

A silver gilt and jewelled pill box probably Austrian but with English import marks for London, 1905. Very fine quality with the silver gilt completely intact and mint within the box. The lid heavily engine turned with radii from the centre which has a stone with similarities in color to a black opal surrounded by raised, beribboned flowers. Around the shoulder of the lid is a wavy line of raised and beribboned flowers over engine turning. The sides of the box scalloped and engine turned with four flying putti holding swags of flowers between them. The bottom of the box again beautifully shaped with silver gilt in mint condition and engine turned with the London marks for 1905 to the centre.
