About the Item
Miniature chest of drawers handcrafted in Italy in the early 1800s using walnut. Despite being small, the chest shows all the elements of a large commode, and it may have been crafted originally as a showcase for a carpenter or custom cabinet maker. Given its small size and the fact that it has functional drawers this chest would be actually perfect as a little jewelry box or placed on top of a writing desk to hold stationary or pens.
The fine details of the veneer work on all sides and perfect carving of the bracket feet are a testament to the skills of its maker. The book-matched walnut veneer on the top, sides and drawers created beautiful and harmonious decoration, making this little guy an extremely decorative piece that will capture the attention of everyone in the room.
