Antique French Églomisé Casket - Souvenir from France, circa 1900
A charming French antique casket from circa 1900 with gilt brass fittings and clear glass panels. The hinged lid features beveled glass, painted on the reverse (Églomisé), depicting a city's architectural landmark.
This elegant casket was sold as a souvenir and combines artistry and craftsmanship in a decorative form. The interior is lined with the original fabric, which provides a gentle contrast to the gleaming brass frame and luminous glass panels.
Condition:
Good antique condition, consistent with age and use. The fabric interior shows some wear and small cracks. The brass fittings have a light patina. The glass is clear and intact with light surface wear.
This Églomisé casket is a beautiful example of early 20th-century French souvenir art. It is ideal as a decorative object or jewelry box and adds a touch of French elegance to any interior.
Found at an Estate Sale in the City of Strasbourg in the Alsace Area in France.
