About the Item
This is an antique travelling jewellery box. A Chinese, lacquered pine campaign case, dating to the late Victorian period, circa 1900.
Delightful example of red lacquered craftsmanship
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good original order
Lacquered pine presents a strikingly vibrant appearance
Accentuated with gilt painted scenes and decorative touches
Lid held securely with a Circular brass clasp with scallop form
Opens to a fitted interior, with a lift-out storage tray
Front fascia hosts a large shield-shape cutaway, with removable valance
When removed, the aperture aids access to a trio of fitted drawers
Each drawer dressed with a small brass drop handle, the shaped form with pierced detail
Drop handles to each side aids ease of movement in the campaign manner
This is a striking antique travelling jewellery box, with strong Chinese taste to the bold lacquer form. Delivered waxed, polished and ready for the home.
