Bronze case inside pear wood from the early 1900s, signed Friedrich Gornik, Austria, 1877-1943 Sculpture depicting Diana Goddess of hunting with the deer. Hunting scenes. The handles are two squirrels. Dimensions: 32 x 19 cm, maximum height 21 cm, in good condition. Table lamp by Toni Zucceri for Mazzega Murano, Italy, 1970s, Italian lighting Friedrich Gornik attended a technical school in Villach, before he got one year at Theodor Charlemont in Vienna and worked. Thereafter (1897-1905), he studied at the Wiener Kunstgewerbeschule, where he graduated with a Travel Grant. At an exhibition in Villach, in1903, he presented his works, including ceramic animal figures, partly for lighting fixtures, as well as designs for vases and bowls. L Subsequently Gornik created great animal figures in plaster, which were cast by other artists and go back to his own zoological studies at the zoo. A naturalistic group of horses, the Troika, was purchased by Emperor Franz Joseph I and is now in the Imperial Villa in Bad Ischl. On 4 January 1916 Gornik was in the group of art kuk Added War Press Quarters, where he was mistakenly referred to when he entered as a war painter. In the works he made during the First World War, primarily about the Italian war scene, is showed along with a the representation of human preference for the animal motif. Together with the well-known artists of the War Press Quarters he presented his works to the respective war exhibitions and the Vienna Künstlerhaus in the years 1916, 1917 and 1918. Gornik continued partly in Vienna, partly in Carinthia, before dying from a stroke on March 26, 1943. He bequeathed his entomological collection to the Carinthian state museum.
