French Gilt Bronze Mounted Cut Crystal Grand Piano Form Hinged Jewelry Box This antique French hinged box is formed in the shape of a grand piano, with a curved silhouette tapering toward the keyboard end. The body is constructed from thick, hand cut crystal panels, each cut with stepped and faceted surfaces. The lid follows the piano outline and is deeply cut with repeating angular facets, rising slightly toward the hinged side. The glass sides are vertically cut with evenly spaced panels, while the base is finished with a star cut motif visible through the underside a characteristic of Antique Baccarat crystal. The box is raised on turned gilded bronze feet positioned at each corner of the piano form. A continuous gilded bronze frame outlines the lid and body, secured with a rear hinge that allows the lid to open smoothly. The gilded bronze mounts are decorated with a repeating leaf pattern in low relief, running along the upper and lower borders of the glass body. A narrow beaded band separates the decorative borders, creating a layered frame around the glass. The bronze retains a warm gilt surface with visible chasing along the repeating motifs. The hinge and closure elements are integrated into the bronze frame and follow the curve of the piano shape without interruption.
