About the Item

An Italian leather and suede jewelry tray, Modern/Midcentury Modern design, made exclusively for B. Altman and Co., New York, NY, circa mid-20th century or earlier, Italy. Tray has a rich brown leather exterior and interior walls (2 walls), gold embossing around outside bottom edge and top, interior is suede lined (3 pockets) with two pockets lined in a deep rich brown wood hue. Five pockets in total. Upholstered bottom/underside, marked 'Made in Italy for B. Altman Co., New York, NY' (shown in last two images.) B. Altman Co. was a luxury department store in New York, NY, founded 1865.
