About the Item
Beautiful vintage Murano hand blown white, dark purple / black and gold flecks Italian art glass vanity powder or jewelry box. Documented to designer Alfredo Barbini, circa 1950s. The lidded jar has a spike top as a handle, decorated with a black glass swirl dusted with gold leaf. The main bowl has a beautiful round shape, with Dalmatian spots decoration throughout. The lid also has the spots. The entire piece is profusely covered in gold leaf throughout. Would make a great display piece on any desk, vanity or coffee table. Use it as a catchall, candy or jewelry dish. Very rare design! Collectors item. Mid-century era. Measures: 7 5/8" tall x 5" across.

Alfredo Barbini
Alfredo Barbini (1912–2007), a glass artist born in 1912 on the islands of Murano in the lagoon of Venice, Italy, was one of Murano's leading figures of the 20th century. His parents were members of families, which had been prominent in the glassmaking industry on Murano for generations as glassblowers and beadmakers.
