About the Item

Highly Collectible Perfume Casket, Napoleon III Period (pre-1882), with Expertise. A rectangular perfume box veneered in rare wood, featuring a finely executed herringbone pattern. The lid is embellished with delicate inlaid cross motifs, framed by brass edging that outlines the contours with precision and restraint. The interior reveals three Baccarat crystal flacons, each enameled with gold stars and filigree threads. Both the stoppers and bases bear gold markings, underscoring the attention to detail. The bottles are housed in individual compartments lined with cream-colored soie moirée (watered silk), a textile choice consistent with the refined taste of the era. Stamped TAHAN Rue de la Paix, 30, the box originates from the esteemed Parisian firm known for supplying luxury goods to the imperial household of Napoléon III. The lock mechanism remains functional and is accompanied by its original key. Dimensions: - Height: 10.5 cm - Length: 14 cm - Depth: 8.5 cm Authenticated by Harold Hessel and Igor Montoussé de Lyon, the piece is notable for its preservation, retaining both structural integrity and aesthetic clarity. Amazing perfect shape, extraordinary well preserved condition. Provenance: A distinguished French private collection. A museum-grade object of historical and decorative significance.
