This exceptional and rare antique sterling silver box has been realistically modelled in the form of a banana.
The surface of this silver snuff/trinket box has a satin finish and bears features reflecting the curvilinear nature of the banana's peel.
This antique sterling silver banana box is fitted with a flush hinged hallmarked cover with a plain thumbpiece to the anterior edge; the flush hinge indicates the high quality of the box.
The interior of this novelty silver box bears the original gilding.
The end of the box bears the retailer's mark Hamilton
Co, Calcutta' and the registration number 'RD 84815'.
