About the Item

This handmade French box dates to circa 1900 and it has been beautifully handcrafted using the traditional arts and crafts metal working skills from cut and beaten copper riveted together to form this superb cigar box. This lovely box has been further enhanced with a fine repousse worked panel forming the hinged lid with an artistically hand embossed tobacco plant stem with leaves and flowers and very stylish letters producing the French word for tobacco. The box is hand-finished throughout with hammered dimples producing an interesting textured finish. The box is in good original condition. Height 12cm x width 23cm x depth 15cm
