Round Shape with Ring Handle
From our Tea Caddy collection, we are delighted off this Antique Continental Melon Fruit Tea Caddy. The Tea Caddy made from Sycamore and of novelty form modelled as a six segment melon with top loop ring handle. Each segment of the melon features a slightly different shade of colour adding to the stunning patina on the exterior. The Tea Caddy opens to reveal traces of the original silver foil lining and steel cut hinge. The Antique Melon Fruit Tea Caddy dates to the turn of the 19th century circa 1800 and is of continental origin.
It is commonly believed that the the Fruit Tea Caddies are made from fruitwood and are of English origin however they are actually made from Sycamore wood and are of Continental origin.
The Tea Caddy comes complete with working lock and tasselled key.
