About the Item
Fine George III rosewood double chamber tea caddy with classical inspired geometric inlay of exotic woods including satinwood, mahogany, kingwood and palm. The rectangular case with lions head handles to the sides, a mother-of-pearl keyhole surround (no key) on the front and raised on block feet. The lid, fitted with stop hinges opens to reveal two removable tea boxes with geometrically inlaid hinged lids centering a velvet lined cylinder holding a cut glass sugar bowl, The interior of the lid with bands of figured woods enclosing a central geometrically inlaid panel centered by a pair of palm wood ovals.
