About the Item
Handsome and eye catching antique boat-shaped candlestick/candelabra, for 7 candles.
Also known as a Thanksgiving candelabra, it is from around 1900 and originates from the Catholic Church. Known as such, as they were donated to the church, often as gifts from the church’s parishioners and wealthy families, as thanks for a cure or a good harvest.
Such candelabras still stand today in Catholic churches, often at the altar or in small alcoves around the church.
Made of patinated bronze and brass, with a pretty ornamental base.
Elegantly structured, like a lush flower bouquet with branched French anemones in delicate colours.
Perfect for the mantelpiece or on the windowsill.
As the stand is an altar stand, it looks most beautiful in front and is flat at the back.
